Yearning for the Beloved | Meetings With the Soul

Do you understand finality? Amongst all of His creations, the son of Adam has seen the most raw glimpse of finality. Has not thee read the decree of the eternal king? He says: “Muhammad is not the father of one of your men, but the Messenger of Allah and last of the prophets. And ever is Allah, of all things, Knowing.” Alas! I envy those who walked in the streets of Madina while the king had descended to this earth, and walked amongst them as an apparent mortal. Of what great fortunes were those who saw the king with their own eyes. Lo! What to say of those who accepted the deen of ilahi on the hands of the mehboob e ilahi . And how shall explain the merits of those who kissed his blessed hands, and would leap into to get a hold of his blessed hair. I will not go further in detail so that my heart does not burn in longing any more than I can bear. The Shyakh ul islam from amongst the Qadri’s took ahold of his heart and poured out all the pain for once and all. “I wish I was born while you were there! Perhaps someday then I would have met you”.

In such misery is my condition. Without mentioning you, there is a storm inside me. By mentioning you, on fire, is my heart lit. O king of the world! O the Prophet of mercy! O the best of creation! Leave me not deprived of your mercy. For you are sent, but as a mercy. The only solution I see, is that “either about you, everyone talks. Or no one talks to me.” The great Pir of Chisti’s has once again, provided me with an excuse to cry. “Why is the yearning for the loved one (The Holy Prophet s.a.w.w) especially strong today? Why is my heart sadder today than ever before? Why does longing penetrate every tissue of mine? And why are the eyes shedding tears like a shower of rain?”
