The Sacrifice | Meetings With the Soul

Make yourself ear, as if your tongue has been burnt. Do not question the masters. The teacher knows well. The student might put himself in the delusion that “I have out-mastered my teacher in knowledge” Knowledge is an infinitely deep ocean. One might have read a few books more than the other. But make no mistake, know the difference between knowing “what” to teach and knowing “how” to teach.

Listen not from me, for I myself learnt this lesson the hard way. Was I not one of those one day, about those the All mighty warned; “And do not go about in the land exultingly, for you cannot cut through the earth nor reach the mountains in height” But alas how can the nafs bear an attack against the nafs? So the Moulana of Rum came to me while I was in between the state of being and not being. “Put your neck on here” he ordered. And so I obeyed, Then he began the sunnat of Khalil Allah and began stroking a knife on my neck. O! Amongst all the blades that the world has ever witnessed, It was the most sharp, the most unique dagger to exist. Made out of the purest form of gold, the weapon of the kings, rightly befittingly, in the hands of a king.

Why do you ask me if I ran away from the blade? Was it against me that I be afraid of it? Oh be the nafs afraid, for it was for him. If you, my friend someday get the privilege to be sacrificed by the hands of any wali. Do not be afraid, the Moulana of Rum consoles you; “When someone beats a rug, the blows are not against the rug, but against the dust in it” The aim is to cleanse the carpet, to get it rid of the dust inside it, not to beat the carpet. The moment the carpet is free of dust, it will no longer be beaten. Now, that same carpet will be treated as royalty, and be presented at the most prestigious of places. Cleanse yourself, so you may one day, be presentable in the court of the king.

So now you know, that it is better for you to kneel and present your neck in order to be sacrificed. I understand that it is difficult. But is it not the test? This is rather, the very test. If there was no test, all would taste and decide. What is the value of commitment then? Leave behind the rational one, didn’t the qalandar of Lahore tell you that amongst the failures became rationale when they decided not to jump into the fire? So take a leap of faith now and jump into fire like Abraham, and enjoy the sweetness of flowers. Or wait for the Anti Christ to present you the delusion of “luxury” Perhaps, it is that you are looking for.

I speak of an experience out of the body and the worldly dimensions. As the Moulana of Rum kept stroking against my neck, my nafs kept screaming. Until became beheaded my nafs, and left of which was, a soul pure in obedience to the one. So the human left of me quickly looked back to check scars, and not a single bit of scratch came to the body. The body, I learnt is only a vessel, it is the inside that matters. In wonder, amazement, and the inability to understand what had just happened, I looked behind to see what miraculous dagger would it be that cut me through without touching a tissue of mine? And o mankind understand this for once, what else could it be? There is no dagger other in existence that can sacrifice a demon as strong as the nafs, but this one. So I picked up this gold dagger, and found engraved on it “There is no God, But Allah, Muhammed is his messenger”
